Is Your Child Suffering with Persistent Vomiting or Diarrhea? Same-Day Sick Care Provides Relief

Issues like vomiting, diarrhea, and fever can be deeply unpleasant for your child. While these symptoms aren’t usually serious, they can cause discomfort and keep your child home from school and activities they enjoy.

Childhood sickness isn’t always avoidable, but with support from same-day sick care at Valencia Pediatrics in Victorville, California, board-certified family pediatricians Rainilda Valencia, MD, and Deepika Saini, MD, FAAP, and our entire team can help your child get better quickly.

Read on to learn more about same-day sick care and how it brings your child relief.

What is same-day sick care?

Our pediatric care team looks after your child when they’re healthy and when they’re sick. With same-day sick care, we can see your child quickly and work to help them feel better.

Same-day care allows us to diagnose your child, treat their illness, and offer symptom relief while they recover. We also assess if your child needs follow-up care or referrals.

Since our team is familiar with your child and their medical history, we’re the best option for them to receive same-day sick care. Urgent care and other medical clinics won’t know your child and typically don’t specialize in treating children.

When to use same-day sick care

Same-day sick care is ideal if your child feels unwell but isn’t having a life-threatening emergency. Symptoms our team can treat the same day you contact us include:

However, if your child is struggling to breathe, has a high fever of over 105 (100.4 for an infant under three months), is bleeding heavily, or has a broken bone or serious burn, they need emergency care, not same-day sick care.

Scheduling a same-day sick care visit

If your child is unwell, the best way to contact our team is to call our office. This prevents your child from long waits or coming in when the issue can be treated without an office visit.

When you call, let our provider know your child’s symptoms and other relevant medical history. We give you care advice over the phone or schedule a same-day appointment.

Whenever possible, our team schedules a telehealth appointment for your child. For some issues, they need to come for an in-office visit.

During the appointment, our team examines your child and orders any necessary tests to diagnose their problem. If a bacterial infection is causing your child’s persistent vomiting or diarrhea, antibiotics can help them start to feel better within 48 hours.

If the infection is viral, our team offers care advice and medication to help relieve your child’s symptoms while their system fights the virus. Care advice and medications for vomiting or diarrhea help keep your child hydrated and reduce symptoms.

When your child isn’t feeling well, our team is here to help get them back to 100% as quickly as possible. Contact us to make a same-day sick care appointment.
